What Is the Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS)?

The OIMS is composed of 11 elements and is a system to implement each element from “Risk Assessment Management" to “Community Awareness and Emergency Preparedness," with “Management Leadership, Commitment and Accountability" as the driving force. This system is continuously improved through evaluations based on “Operation Integrity Assessment and Improvement." Each element includes specific and clearly defined expectations that every operation must fulfill, and management is responsible for meeting and executing them without fail.

OIMS As an Environmental Management System

Public concerns about environmental issues have increased. Companies are therefore embracing international standards for environmental management such as ISO 14001.

TonenGeneral's OIMS encompasses all of the requirements of ISO 14001, and is certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, the institution that handles ISO accreditation. Based on OIMS, TonenGeneral works to preserve the environment by setting goals and implementing programs, and manages outcomes for the following issues.

• Reduction of sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide and benzene emissions
• Reduction of industrial waste and increased recycling

OIMS contains clear requirements that TonenGeneral must achieve in the areas of environment, safety and health. We regularly conduct checks according to these guidelines and work for continuous improvement.

Comparison of OIMS and ISO 14001

A precursor to ISO 14001, OIMS departs from the written structure of the standard but not from its substance. Since OIMS is an integrated environment, safety, and health system, it is broader than, and in some instances exceeds, the requirements of ISO 14001.
